Mary Rainer-Skala is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience helping couples and families.  She is an accomplished family systems therapists specializing in attachment issues and trauma.  She has also worked extensively with couples who are dealing with adoptions issues, infertility, and children with disabilities.

I’m often telling couples that their relationship contains tremendous strengths even if they’ve lost sight of what those are.  My style is warm, accepting, and open.  I am interested in the story that each couple brings and the journey that has brought you to therapy.  This process gives couples the space to share emotions, to redefine goals, and to refocus on the positives that can revive and rebuild the friendship and intimacy that brought you together in the first place.  I’m active with you in this process.  You’ll notice I offer guidance and direction each week and will create intentional activity (if need be) to help generate positive movement in your relationship.  It is a true joy to see couples renew trust, intimacy, and to discover again the hope for their marriage.

For over 30 years I’ve been helping couples discover their own unique vision for what their “well marriage” can be.  My approach to couples work is strengths-based: we start with an emphasis on safe re-connection strategies and explore our way to deeper-bonding solutions.  We start where you are and from there do the crucial work for creating and securing a lifelong friendship and relationship.  My style is very active, yet safe, for providing you the support and structure for getting the most out of therapy.  I know people are hurting and wondering if they can ever find and experience what it really means to be in a secure relationship.  At Well Marriage Center we believe you can and I’d be honored to help you in that discovery.
