An Investment in Your Relationship
When you have heart trouble, you want a cardiologist. It’s the same for our emotional hearts: when your most intimate relationship is in trouble, you want someone who specializes in relationship science.
Many couples unfortunately know what it’s like to receive subpar marriage counseling. A focus on ‘I statements’ and date nights, a therapist who means well, but seems overwhelmed with their dynamics and quickly out of ideas.
The therapists at Well Marriage Center have all dedicated their careers to working with couples. When you invest in relationship counseling with one of our therapists, you can trust you’re getting the highest quality marriage counselor in your community: one who is deeply experienced with the nuances of committed partner relationships and who wants to see your marriage succeed and thrive.
Marriage counseling is a long-term commitment to work at exploring and healing what have likely been long-term issues straining your relationship. Here’s some more information about our fees and what to expect during the process:
How Long Will It Take?
Every relationship is different, so there’s no definitive answer to the question of how long it will take. However, you should expect to invest somewhere between 12-25 sessions over the course of 6-10 months to get deep enough to address and heal the root causes of your relationship difficulty. You’ll see your therapist often in the early stages of your work together, usually once a week, and then will taper off to once or twice a month as your relationship strengthens and you near the end of your course of therapy.
How Long Are the Sessions?
Your initial consultation appointment will last between 1.5 – 1.75 hours. After that, sessions typically run for 50 minutes.
Do You Take Insurance?
Yes and no. We don’t accept in-network insurance copays, so you’ll pay your therapist directly after each session. However, we’re considered an out-of-network provider for most insurance policies, so at the end of each month, we can send you a summary of all of your payments (called a superbill) for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Most of our clients who submit to their insurance company for reimbursement find that they’ll get 25%-90% of our fees back. For a detailed explainer, click on this free Insurance Reimbursement PDF.
What About HSAs?
Yes, because we’re fully licensed and credentialed, we are able to accept Health Savings Account (HSA) cards for payment. We recommend this option for those clients with high out-of-network deductibles so you can save by paying for our services with your pre-tax dollars.
How Much Will It Cost?
Pricing varies by therapist and location, but ranges from $155-$250 per hour. We require a $100 deposit to book your first session. Your deposit is refundable (minus a $5 credit card processing fee) if you need to cancel, so long as you do so at least 48 hours prior to your appointment.
Because you’ll be seeing your therapist weekly for the first month or two, you can expect to invest between $500-$900 per month when you begin therapy. You’ll spend less per month as you get further along in the process. For most couples, when they see the process through and look back, they’ve invested around $377 – $444 a month in their relationship over the course of 8-10 months.
